History of St. Louis Assembly Honor Guard
The "Honor Guard" was started by Dr. John B. Wedge, Master of the Eastern District of Missouri in 1966.
He appointed the first Captain, Rev. Mr. Robert (Bob) Karsznia to serve 1967 and 1968. Al Winkeler was selected by the Honor Guard to serve as Captain from 1969 to 1970.
Some of the other Sir Knights who were selected to serve as Captain were Joseph LeGreek and Robert Bradley to name a few.
The ranking officers for the "Honor Guard" followed the criteria of the United States Navy command., with Captain as the highest rank. Below are the various ranks in the Honor Guard.
Captain four 4 gold stripes
Commander three 3 gold stripes
Lt Commander two and half 2 1/2 gold stripes
Lieutenant two 2 gold stripes
Lieutenant J.G. one and half 1 1/2 gold stripes
Ensign one 1 gold stripe
